Elyse Pastel, who teaches Traditional Animation, has been an educator and animator since graduating from Art Center College of Design.  She worked in layout on The Great Mouse Detective and on storyboards for Ducktales TV Show.  At Disney Feature Animation, she was Assistant Clean-up on Pocahantas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Great Mouse Detective.  For seven years she was Character Art Manager at The Walt Disney Company.  She served as head of product development for the Softlines division and managed the character art side of the style guide process.  She contributed Winnie the Pooh conceptual character art and tight pencil art for Soflines style guides.

As a freelance artist, she has done product design and illustration for Munchkin Inc., Mommy & Me. Co. and the Silverlake Children’s Theatre Group.  She taught Character Design at the Silverlake Children’s Theatre Group and How to Invent a Board Game to elementary school children in the STAR After School Program.  She currently teaches Children’s Book Illustration, Computer Graphics, Head Drawing, Character Design and Dynamic Drawing at the Barnsdall Art Center.
