Art Departments: MUSIC Music at Arts High is more than the "Food of Love". It is the sound of a human voice singing or a trumpet heralding the opening of the Great Gate at Kiev or the pounding of a drum, moving hearts to skip a beat. It is Latin jazz making audiences' feet dance, the great sound of a
symphony or a gospel choir lifting listeners' spirits to the skies. The department offers a wide array of performance and theory courses in vocal and instrumental music, opening the doors of this
very special world.

Dr. Dan Castro has composed for orchestra, wind ensemble, choral, chamber groups, solo piano and voice. He has been the Chair of the Music Department at LACHSA since 1995, inspiring many young musicians and bringing them extraordinary learning and performing opportunities. |
